Following the success of popular vaio nr range, Sony has released the NW-series to bring the company’s renowned style and quality to the mass market.
The design of this mid-range laptop is evolutionary, with an attractive patterned finish to plastic and Sony’s now customary isolated keyboard design.
The updates chassis offers a larger 15.6 inch screen. Its 16:9 wide screen aspect ratio makes it ideal for movie playback.
The pre-production unit we saw offered outstanding comfort, with the large keyboard featuring keys that protrude distinctively through the chassis. The textured touchpad is also highly accurate.
The inclusion of a quick-launch Web button is a nice touch, booting into a custom web browser rather than Windows. Starting almost instantly, It lets you get online and browse the internet in seconds.
A mid-range ATi Mobility Redeon HD 4570 graphics card offers reasonable 3D performance, allowing light gaming use. The use of a 2.1GHz Intel Core 2 duo processor and 4096MB of memory promises capable office performance.
The top-of-the-range NW11Z/S offers an Integrated Blu-ray drive with an HDMI port to let you connect an HDTV. With up to 500GB of storage space, it promises to be ideal for the home, commute or office.
